nOTES FROM maRCH 2025

  • 8:30 am at Worlds of Marvel

  • 9 am off the ship into a very old and somewhat beat down small bus 15 – 20 min ride

  • Only 18 people on the port adventure therefore left like a private tour

  • First stop at Alebrijie 9:45 am arrival with family photos and tour of the area

  • Went into a small cement room with A/C and windows which was nicely decorated and displayed with Alebrijie

  • 3 tables of tables of 6 spots

  • Our tour guide went deeply into the tradition and the two kinds of Alebrijie

  • Next up time to paint with many options of animals that all already had a base coat of paint on them with a few options

  • First paint was black & white to practice making the eyes

  • Next we selected two colors to start the process and then added as many colors as you request

  • Cannot paint to heavy because the paint needs to dry before you leave the complex

  • The more colors added the more powerful the Alebrijie

  • After done painting we toured the gift shop and rest rooms

  • Left location later than expected because bus issues 11 am

  • The Mayan Chocolate tour was an outdoor walking tour which was hot and humid

  • Learned about Mayan culture and how chocolate started

  • We watched and tasted a demonstration on how to make chocolate

  • After entering a very expensive gift shop and then the 15-minute bus ride back to the port

  • Eliu was our excellent tour guide and please remember to tip them

  • Overall, I am very pleased with the first half of the port adventure and would highly recommend this one. We learned a lot about the culture and getting to paint our Alebrijie was an awesome experience. The Mayan Chocolate tour I did not love and would not repeat but did learn alot

  • Walked back through the port and then back onto the ship

  • The Cozumel port area has plenty of shops to explore if you want or have time

  • Back in room by 1:30 pm ordered room service for lunch

  • Of note because of the rain early in the day DCL handed out ponchos to us while getting off the ship
