From Lyttelton Port you will travel through the Lyttelton Tunnel and make your way around the Port Hills and up to the Sign of the Takahe which is a beautiful historic building.
From here you will enjoy amazing views over Christchurch, the Canterbury plains and all the way over to the Southern alps.
Next you will make our way to the stunning Mona Vale Gardens. Mona Vale, with its homestead, is a public park of 4 hectares in the Christchurch suburb of Fendalton. The homestead and gate house are both listed as heritage buildings. At Mona Vale you will get a short guided walk through the stunning gardens.
Next you will head into Christchurch city centre. Once arriving in the city you will see first hand the exciting rebuild that has taken place following the 2011 earthquakes. Your local guide will provide informative and interesting commentary on all aspects of Christchurch from the early pioneering days through to the modern day.
From here you will make your way back to Lyttelton and return to your cruise ship.

On arriving at the river base you will be met by one of the friendly team at Alpine Jet, fitted with a life jacket before boarding your jetboat, you will then get to experience an incredible 20 minute jet boat blast, skimming over the water at times only inches deep.
The Waimakariri River is one of Canterbury's famous braided river systems, braided rivers are rivers with a very wide river bed and the water crisscrosses it way down the river bed in a braided like manner. Only a small percentage of the world's river systems are braided, the jet boat was specifically invented for these types of rivers.
At the end of your jetboat experience you will be returned back to your cruise ship in Lyttelton.
