Disney Cruise Line Accelerates Fleet Expansion with Three Ships Now Arriving in 2029
Disney Cruise Line has quietly reshaped its long-term expansion strategy, moving key ship launches forward and setting the stage for a major milestone year in 2029.
Originally unveiled in 2024, Disney’s fleet expansion plan outlined a 13-ship lineup by 2031. Since then, the company has continued to build momentum, growing beyond its original five ships—Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish—with the recent additions of Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and Disney Adventure.
Now, new details from Disney’s Q3 FY26 shareholder update reveal a notable shift in the timeline.
A Big Year Ahead: 2029
The most significant change centers on ships 11, 12, and 13—part of an all-new class expected to fall between the Magic-class and Dream-class in size. Initially scheduled to debut across three consecutive years (2029–2031), Disney has now accelerated the rollout.
Ship 11 remains on track for 2029
Ship 12 has been moved up from 2030 to late 2029
Ship 13 has shifted forward from 2031 to 2030
This adjustment means Disney Cruise Line could debut three brand-new ships in 2029 alone, marking one of the most ambitious single-year expansions in cruise industry history.
What’s Still on Schedule
Before that milestone year arrives, the next major addition will be the Disney Believe, the fourth Wish-class ship. Disney confirmed it will launch in late 2027, with an official reveal expected in October 2026.
Another key piece of the expansion is the Japan-based Wish-class variant, operated by Oriental Land Company. This ship remains on track for a 2029 debut and will sail from Japan, expanding Disney’s global reach.
A Faster Path to 13 Ships
With these updated timelines, Disney Cruise Line is now positioned to have all 13 ships operational by the end of 2030—one year earlier than originally planned, assuming no delays.
While past projects like Disney Wish and Disney Adventure experienced schedule shifts, the updated plan signals strong confidence in shipyard capacity and continued demand for Disney’s cruise experiences.
