Disney Cruise Line Celebrating the Enduring Power of Disney Magic & Family Traditions

On March 15, during the Academy Awards on ABC, Disney Cruise Line premiered an emotional and uplifting new ad campaign called “Midnight Magic.” The spot highlights how even the simplest moments on a Disney vacation can grow into lifelong memories and treasured family traditions. The spot aired on ABC and centers on a father and son sharing a late-night ritual aboard the Disney Treasure.

This cinematic short film follows a father and son as they share a quiet ritual aboard a Disney ship: a nighttime stroll on the decks when the ship feels like theirs alone, long after most guests have turned in. The story traces their relationship across the years—from childhood to adulthood, parenthood, and ultimately grandparenthood—while the same cherished tradition endures.

The creative team drew inspiration from real guest experiences and how Disney creates moments of genuine connection, whether in grand spectacles or these quieter, intimate times shared as a family. The concept of a Disney cruise evolving into a multi-generational tradition came directly from longtime fans and repeat guests.

“Disney has brought families closer together for generations,” said Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “This campaign embodies what guests tell us time and again: that the Disney experiences they cherish most are the ones spent with the people they love. We’re grateful to make that kind of Disney magic a reality.”

The ad emphasizes Disney Cruise Line’s unique ability to build meaningful connections and lasting happiness—not just through attractions, shows, and amenities, but through the time families spend together. Sometimes it’s the quietest moments on a Disney vacation that sparkle the brightest.

The campaign arrives amid exciting growth for Disney Cruise Line, with five new ships planned by 2031, expanding the fleet to 13 vessels worldwide. This includes the recent launch of Disney Destiny in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the debut of Disney Adventure in Singapore earlier this month—the line’s first ship in Asia. With more departure ports globally and itineraries to destinations like the Caribbean, The Bahamas, Europe, Alaska, and beyond, Disney Cruise Line is welcoming more families than ever.

If this sweet father-son tradition inspires you to start one of your own—whether a nightly deck stroll, a morning coffee at Cove Cafe, or a first-day selfie in the Grand Hall—there’s a whole world of possibilities waiting at sea.
