Earlier this month, the cast began rehearsals for “Disney Hercules” on the Walt Disney Theatre stage, incorporating finishing touches, like costumes, props, and set pieces, to help bring this unique adaptation of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film to life.
Now, with the maiden voyage just a few weeks away, it’s almost time to raise the curtain and reveal the high-fashion costumes, ancient Greece-inspired sets and state-of-the-art puppetry that will take “Disney Hercules” from zero to hero.

Finale is different from the movie with a unique ending
Set is going to be a mix of staircases and contemporary scaffolding features along with more Grecian elements like a gazebo and pillars
The show starts inside a museum gallery of some sort
Will be a storybook like telling seen with Beauty and the Beast and the Tale of Moana therefore not a replica of the movie but a more modern telling
Another sipper, designed to look like the Hero sipper that Panic drinks from in the film Hercules will be available at the Walt Disney Theater.
In the new stage production, we will hear a song originally planned for but inevitably abandoned from the original film, “Shooting Star" that will now be placed in a romantic moment later into the production and it in by Alan Menken and David Zippel. It was originally for Hercules but now a song with Hercules and Megara as a long song.

But instead of a straightforward recreation, the creative team has developed a fresh take designed to match the Disney Destiny’s overarching theme of heroes and villains
The show incorporates unique stagecraft, new artistic interpretations, and large-scale puppetry to bring ancient mythology to life in a bold new way
The iconic multi-headed Hydra, for instance, appears on stage as an elaborate, multi-performer puppet – designed to twist, coil, and loom over the stage in a way that feels larger than life
These puppets serve not only as visual centerpieces, but also as storytelling devices that emphasize the scale and stakes of Hercules’ hero’s journey
Has 80s and 90s R & B and gospel flare with breakdancing, neon lights and hip hop
Projection mapping on the costumes of the muses is stunning
Pegasus is comic relief like the Genie in Aladdin and Pegasus makes sounds of a horse and acts like one versus being a puppet
Starts slow but great finale, and it is like a ladder with a slow climb towards the end when it really takes off

Hades blue makeup takes about 45 minutes and he combines the original Hades James Woods with new tones and ideas to make him special to DCL
