Board your van and travel 30 minutes to Lyon Arboretum, which is one of the world’s premier botanical gardens. Here you will embark on an extraordinary eco-tour. Over 5,000 species of plants, including the largest collection of palm tree varieties on Earth, are nurtured by more than 185 inches of rainfall each year.
During your approximately 120-minute visit at Lyon Arboretum, you will be able to explore the 200-acre garden, colorful blossoms including bromeliads, hibiscus, orchids, and anthuriums surround you. The arboretum is also home to many rare and endangered native Hawaiian plants. You will learn about the garden's interesting history and efforts to save some of the rarest plants in the world.
You will then visit the heart of the valley where ancient, cloud-swept hills have endured a steady procession of uses - from Hawaiian taro farms to cattle ranches to coffee plantations and Japanese rice paddies.
