Overview

Moana: Call of the Sea is an enchanting open-air musical show performed at Wayfinder Bay on the Disney Adventure cruise ship. This captivating live production retells Moana's epic journey across the ocean, celebrating themes of bravery, self-discovery, and friendship through memorable songs from the film, energetic Polynesian-inspired dance, stunning puppetry, and immersive video effects—all set against the beautiful backdrop of the open sky and sea.

Wayfinder Bay is a relaxing, upper-deck pool area at the aft (back) of the ship, featuring plush seating, refreshing beverages, and panoramic ocean views. The show takes place right by the pool "shores," making it a unique, breezy outdoor experience (space is limited, so arrive early to grab a great seat!).

The story unfolds with a narrator setting the scene: In the beginning, there was only the water—until Te Fiti created lush islands, inspiring voyagers to sail the seas. But when the demigod Maui stole Te Fiti's heart, darkness spread, the islands began to fade, and the voyagers stopped exploring the ocean.

The narrator then welcomes Moana, and the performance bursts into familiar tunes from Moana. Dancers portray key characters like Moana's grandmother and the charismatic Maui as the tale begins. Chosen by the ocean, Moana sets sail on her quest to restore the heart of Te Fiti. Along the way, she encounters the shape-shifting demigod Maui.

Together, Moana and Maui embark on their adventure across treacherous waters, highlighted by a dynamic musical interlude with dance and video effects capturing the dangers of the open sea. They face the shiny-hoarding crab Tamatoa to retrieve Maui's magical fish hook and the heart. Though Maui regains his hook, he struggles to reclaim his full powers—until Moana's encouragement helps him rediscover his strength.

As challenges mount and Maui's hook is damaged, he departs temporarily. Moana presses on and confronts the fiery Te Kā. Maui returns in a heroic moment, and together they defeat the destructive force, restoring the heart to transform Te Kā back into the life-giving Te Fiti.

Moana returns triumphantly to her home island of Motunui, becoming its master wayfinder. With the heart restored, her village thrives once more, filled with voyagers eager to explore. Maui bids farewell, and the people of Motunui set sail to discover new islands.

This inspiring, family-friendly show (about 14 minutes long) brings the heart of Moana to life on the high seas—perfect for reliving the magic or introducing it to new fans! If you're sailing on the Disney Adventure, don't miss it.
