At the pier you will be introduced to your guide and head straight to the Len Lye Centre.
The Len Lye Centre in New Plymouth is a celebration of the life and work of the groundbreaking artist, Len Lye. Recognized for his innovative contributions across various artistic mediums, Lye's legacy encompasses filmmaking, sculpting, painting, and poetry.
The Centre itself is a striking architectural piece, distinguished by its unique design featuring metallic waves that rise gracefully from the sidewalk, creating a dynamic interaction with the surrounding streetscape.
As you explore this artful space, don't miss the nearby Wind Wand, a 158-foot kinetic sculpture crafted from bright red fiberglass. This eye-catching installation exemplifies Lye's avant-garde spirit and imagination, reflecting the creative energy that characterizes New Zealand's art scene.
At the end of your guided tour, you will be transferred back to your ship. Guests can opt to stay longer and return to the ship at their own expense.

On this adventure you will…
You will meet your guide and transfer to the Brooklands Zoo.
At Brooklands Zoo, you will be able to meet friendly animals such as the capuchin monkeys, meerkats, parrots, tortoises, and many more and enjoy some time at the wonderful playground.
Then head to the stunning Pukekura Park for a day of exploration with a park map to guide you through the lush landscapes and serene lakes. Children will enjoy an exclusive fun scavenger hunt, searching for clues while learning about the park’s nature, and they'll also love feeding the ducks with the provided duck food.
A small picnic lunch is provided for both children and adults, making sure everyone is ready to continue the adventure. This is the perfect family day out, combining relaxation, exploration, and fun for all ages.

After a 30-minute transfer from the port to Lake Mangamahoe, you will be introduced to your guide for the day.
The Lake Mangamahoe circuit walk offers a fantastic opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area. As you meander along the trail, you’ll pass through a small collection of redwood trees planted in 1931. Known as the giants of the forest in their native California, these towering trees can reach heights of up to 11 meters and are celebrated for their impressive longevity.
Enjoy stunning vistas of Lake Mangamahoe and its surrounding landscapes from various scenic lookouts. The trail features a mix of mature ornamental trees and pockets of regenerated native bush, creating a rich and varied environment.
Lunch will be provided, and for families, children have the option to participate in a scavenger hunt, adding an extra layer of fun to the adventure. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including various bird species and potentially other native fauna, to enhance your journey through this beautiful landscape.

As you walk along, you'll discover that Taranaki's largest city was originally called Ngamotu (the islands) and occupied by the Maori for centuries.
You will hear the stories of hope and anguish, struggle and triumph and how a bush-clad shoreline was transformed into a bustling community.

Following the gardens you will be transported to a New Plymouth scenic icon, Okurukuru - one of the highlights of the region’s hospitality scene. The building sits atop a fifty-acre block of land. While there you will get to experience a taste of some local wines and canapes.

To Sugar Loaf Islands
Enjoy the scenery and wildlife aboard an English lifeboat.
On this adventure you will…
After a short transfer to the boat ramp, you will be introduced to your guide and captain of your Port Adventure.
You will enjoy your approximate 1 hour slow boat ride to the Sugar Loaf Islands.
Your captain will cruise past the islands, which are the eroded stumps of an ancient volcanic crater Taranaki just located off New Plymouth's shores.
The islands you will be marveling at are part of a protected marine park, which were discovered and named by Captain Cook in 1760.
Have your camera handy for any seals, dolphins and whales that swim by.
Before heading back to the boat ramp, you will see the man-made Wind Wand on the promenade on the coastal walkway, an icon of New Plymouth.
