  • Make your way to the end of the deepest Harbor in the world and enjoy a brief photo stop to capture your ship nestled in the beautiful landscape.

  • Stop at Camel Rock, which resembles a lonely camel laying on the shore.

  • Stop at the beautiful village of Auasi where you will see local fishing boats used as transportation between the main Island and the Island of Aunu’u to bring residents back and forth. Keep your eyes open as you look out to the ocean between the channel. You may catch a glimpse of marine life, although this is not guaranteed.

  • Enjoy a stop at Amouli beach for a swim to cool off before your last stop at the Fafatogo Marketplace where you will have a chance to purchase a souvenir before returning to the ship.

  • Begin as you board your open-air, island-style bus and travel to see one of the island’s most noted natural landmarks, Fatu-Ma-Futi (Flowerpot Rock). Rising from the waters of Pago Pago Harbor, this large rock sports a bushy carpet of vegetation sprouting from its crown that resembles a potted plant in a huge flowerpot, thus giving it its American name, Flowerpot Rock.

  • Making the 45-minute transfer to Fagatele Bay, you will take a cool, shady, 40-50 minute hike down to one of American Samoa’s national marine sanctuaries. This is an isolated beach with no residents, except you and nature. Relish time to swim or snorkel and enjoy all its natural beauty and catch sites of exotic fish and corals.

  • After about an hour and a half of beach time, hike back up to your awaiting bus and return to the pier with a 45-minute transfer, enjoying the scenery along the way.

It was here that Samoa’s first missionary, John Williams, landed in 1832. Honoring Williams’s arrival and the work of the London Missionary Society is the Leone Missionary Monument, which stands in front of the town’s Zion Church. Take in the churches hand carved architecture and stained-glass windows.

  • Afterward, view another island wonder, Fatu-Ma-Futi (Flowerpot Rock). Housed in a building constructed in 1919 and originally serving as a naval commissary store, the museum hosts a collection of Samoan artifacts, books, canoes, jewelry, and handcrafts representing Samoan history and culture. Of particular note is a small American Samoa flag and three moonstones gifted to American Samoa by President Richard Nixon following the space explorations of one of the Apollo missions.

  • Siapo: Also known as Tapa, is one of the oldest Samoan cultural art forms. For centuries Siapo has been passed from generation. The canvas of the Siapo is a fine cloth known as the U’a. The process of preparing the U’a includes harvesting, stripping, separating, scraping, and beating of the mulberry bark. made from the bark of the Paper Mulberry Tree.

  • Here you will learn the history of siapo painting, and how the traditional red, brown, and black color inks are made and used in the traditional arts.

  • You will then be able to paint your own piece of traditional art and take it with you as a souvenir before heading back to your ship.
