  • Continue on an approximately 20-minute drive to Newman’s Wine Vault to visit the historic vaults and sample Newman’s Port wine. The tradition of going underground to participate in a wine tasting dates back to 1679. These same vaults now double as one of Canada’s most haunted venues.

  • On your way to the Quidi Vidi Brewery, pass Quidi Vidi Lake, the site of the Royal St. John's Regatta—the oldest annual sporting event in North America. Sample local craft beers while watching the rugged Atlantic seascape and listening to local tales of pirates, treasure and marauding polar bears. Stroll past small arts and craft galleries and sample local jams made from some of the same berry plants you will see on your hike. Your guide will provide commentary on the flora and fauna native to this area along the way. Note: there are over 300 steps and trails are well established paths that are uneven and can be rocky.

  • Take an approximately 10-minute drive to The Rooms Provincial Museum. Here, you will have approximately 40 minutes to explore the different exhibits and halls, as well as get an up-close view of a giant squid—a rare creature known as a "sea monster" until the 19th century.

  • Travel through St. John's, where you will learn about the region's dramatic history. For hundreds of years fishing boats from Spain, Portugal and other parts of Europe came here to fish. Five centuries earlier, the Vikings explored these waters, returning to Europe with tales of a rich fishing culture and a mysterious sea monster called the Kraken, known now as the giant squid.
