Set in the heart of Suva's historical Thurston Gardens, the Fiji Museum is unrivaled in the islands for the extent of its collection of anthropological and historical material, having been founded much earlier than other Pacific Island Museums. It holds a remarkable collection that includes archaeological material dating back over 3,500 years and cultural objects representing indigenous, Indo-Fijian, and other communities that have settled in the island group over the past 200 years.
Browse through Fiji's history, see the exhibits dating back to Fiji's cannibalism period and Captain Bligh's Bounty' which visited Fiji in 1789. A walk through the park of Thurston Garden, witness the transformation of the area, from a war-affected zone to a beautiful botanical garden home to some indigenous birds and plants.

Arrive at the Colo-i-Suva jungle, where the adventure begins as you explore nature at your own pace.
This lush rainforest park, pronounced tholo-ee-soo-va, is an oasis teeming with vivid and melodic birdlife and tropical flora. Among the wildlife are 14 different bird species, including scarlet robins, spotted fantails, Fiji goshawks, sulfur-breasted musk parrots, Fiji warblers, golden doves, and barking pigeons.
The miles of walking trails navigate clear natural pools and gorgeous vistas. You will take a mountainside trail that leads to the lower natural pool. Once there, you'll be able to relax and swim in a cool, clear mountain pool.
Revel in the gorgeous, verdant surroundings before returning to the top.
Board your motor coach and head for lunch at Colo-i-Suva Lodge and enjoy entertainment from a 2-man string band. Your day’s program will conclude with the singing of our national farewell song " Isa Lei."

Listen to the melodic voices of the friendly Fijians who will greet you when you arrive at Takalana Beach for this ancient ritual. This ceremony marks the respect of the Sawau tribe to its visitors and is the highest form of appreciation given.
Take the opportunity to partake of the traditional drink of Kava also known as piper methysticum – a pepper plant whereby juice is extracted from its dried pounded root. It is a considerate gesture to accept when offered.
Your presenter will introduce the entrance of the Bete – Firewalking Priest and his tribe and learn the fascinating history behind this ritual.

Board your transportation for an approximately 50-minute drive to Nasali at the Rewa Delta.
Board a long boat traveling past grassy plains and villages as you make your way down the river.
Enjoy a friendly welcome from villagers who will sing, serenade and garland you.
The priest will invite you into the beautiful Nailili Church, built by Catholic Missionaries in the early 1800’s.
As you walk around the area, you may meet friendly children at the school, led by dedicated teachers. They may share fascinating facts about this historical site that have recently been uncovered.
Reboard your boat crossing over to Waivou village where you will be hosted by the villagers who will share refreshments such as assorted soft drinks and bottled water and enjoy the village entertainment.
At the conclusion of your time at Waivou Village enjoy your 50-minute transfer back to the pier.

On this adventure you will…
Travel through the city of Suva by local bus, up Edinburg Drive and appreciate commanding views of Suva Harbour and Laucala Bay.
On the way you will see Fiji's Medical school, the Colo I Suva Agricultural Testing Station and the fertile flats that lead onto the town of Nausori.
Cross the Waimanu River famous for its water lilies, pass Adi Cakobau School (ACS) now a well-known boarding school for girls which was originally established as a school for boys some 50 years ago.
On arrival the friendly villagers await to garland and serenade you, as this is the traditional Fijian welcome. Fijian warriors in traditional dress will escort you to the village meeting place to join the village chief and men folk in the traditional preparation of Kava (Fijian ceremonial drink).
Learn about the history and Fijian way of life, view traditional art and craft demonstrations, such as mat, basket and hat weaving, coconut husking and scraping, and enjoy a guided walk around the village.
