7/21/25 Embarkation Day

  • Prebooked Royal port transfers from MCO Hyatt

  • Went down at 8 am to meet the rep who told me the first bus was 10:15 am therefore she had me come down to baggage claim at 9:30 and escorted us to check in which was in terminal

  • B level one across from hertz rental counter

  • Check in asked if we had luggage tags, birth certificates or passports, we gave all our names, and they gave us tickets with numbers. We had to continue to keep our bags until they called our ticket numbers. It took about 45 mins to board the bus.

  • Nice charter bus with 50 seats and bathroom. There were tvs but not on

  • Article option dcl from MCO versus MCO Hyatt

  • Once off the bus we had to show the porters our luggage and please make sure to tip them all

  • Once at the port I had to find our way to the entrance

  • Line through security was quite long

  • After that the check-in line up was much shorter and then off to the ship

  • Muster drill video in the am and check-in done immediately at the Royal theater. Of note all members had to be present at the check-in area.

  • Then up to wind jammer to eat but the line was out the door to the pool deck, so we headed back down to Sorrento's to get pizza

  • Refresher drink package at 35 percent off so we stopped at a bar to get our drink cup really sucks to have to carry these all day long and only knew to pick these up at the bar because asked some, which Royal communicated we had to pick these up

  • Headed to Adventure Ocean kids club 6 to 12 years old to sign the waiver

    • Make sure to look at the hours

    • Warned they close at 5 pm and charge you by the minute if late

    • After 10 pm there is a charge to use the kids club

  • Rooms ready by 1 pm so at 12:30 headed to them

  • Spend next hours in the pool and loungers in the pool listening to DJ music

  • Sail away party at 3:45 pm with DJ music and live video up in the jumbo screen to see everyone having a good time

  • Follow up champagne shooters where they would shoot champagne directly into your mouth

    • I got confused if I got on a carnival cruise and not Royal for a minute

  • Of note, because of all the drink packages you see a lot of servers working hard. Big difference between selling drinks versus just delivering them repeatedly.

  • Dinner night 1: bloody Mary drink, all 6 starters, chicken dinner, fish dinner, New York strip, Portabella dinner, Boston cream pie, Dark chocolate, Cheesecake

Oviewview Summary

  • Overall, a very big ship and many options to fill your day. Carrying around the drink cups really stinks. I wish they had a way to just scan your card at the Freestyle Coke Machine and that there were more of them. I would try Royal again for the private island or new destinations that other cruise lines do not currently go to. Did not purchase the Next Cruise offer as it was not refundable and had lots of restrictions about when you had to book and sail by and lastly, I get tons of emails from Royal with discounted offers therefore not sure it is a great deal.
